I see it every day, people who really need a drivers ed course. Maybe that’s why, because they stopped teaching these courses, so let’s clear up traffic lanes misconceptions.
The right lane enters the highway from the ACCELEATION ramp. You should have already ACCELERATED to highways speeds by ramp’s end, and be able to maintain that speed. Your merge, and your LANE CHANGES should never, EVER cause others to have to brake. When you SIGNAL you are asking permission, asking may I merge, not telling. BMW drivers have no idea where the turn signal stalk is.
The next lane left is a traffic and / or PASSING lane, as is the left left of that. In every state but California, big rigs are to be in the right most lane except when passing. In California they pretty much drive in any lane they want.
The left most lane is reserved for NASCAR qualifiers and people who can afford traffic tickets. It is not for camping, or controlling others because your life sucks so hard that you have a deviant need to slow the whole of humanity, because you can, in your grandma’s civic while driving to your meaningless “burger king fry basket guy” job.
